Carpenter's Brook, NY, Letterbox Vandalized

Last week I conducted a crash course on
letterboxing for some teachers from the Baldwinsville area. Today the
group went in search of the Carpenter's Brook Letterbox. 'Kokopelli'
informed me the box had been vandalized!
The group found the letterbox intact, with
all of its initial contents including the carved stamp, with the exception of
the log-pages stamped by previous visitors to the site. The pages had been
torn from the log, and in place were found obscene comments. ( I'm so
disappointed for my check of the box a month ago showed visitors from
Ontario, Canada).
Having placed the letterbox and knowing of
the 'traffic' through the area, I would advise a caution to all
letterboxers: whether retrieving a letterbox in order to stamp the log, or
replacing it when done, be aware of observant others around you. Above all
else, we must be discrete!
This is my first experience with letterbox
vandalism, and it saddens me.

PS: - to Gary Mayer from CT - glad
you and the boys enjoyed your visit to Beaver Lake!
